FTC Cracks the Whip but is it Really Going to be that Painful???

Author: So, you may have heard that the FTC is imposing new laws impacting our industry that will go into effect on December 1st.
A couple of days ago, I received an email from a well known online marketer
and the headline intrigued me so I opened it.
The email was sounding the alarm that the FTC was going to be making some
really big changes beginning December 1st and I was encouraged to
purchase more information for $97 so I could be well educated on all
the legalities of what I could and couldn’t say online.
I encourage you to do your own research,
and think it out before you just throw $97 out the window.
Not only can this information be found online at various locations,
but don’t you think the company you are with is going to be providing
some information to you so you can continue working your business
legally without the fear of the FTC?

Before you get all worked up about it…..
“That $11,000 fine is not true. Worst-case scenario, someone receives a warning, refuses to comply, followed by a serious product defect; we would institute a proceeding with a cease-and-desist order and mandate compliance with the law.”
This came straight from the mouth of Richard Cleland, Assistant Director of the Division of Advertising Practices at the FTC.

Compliance is important and we must all move our business forward with the highest integrity. However, I find it upsetting when people in the industry will sound the alarm, instill fear and have their hand out ready to take your hard earned cash for information you can receive for FREE.
