We Will Reap What We Sow

Most of us would cringe at the mere thought of having knee surgery.
Sally didn’t.
She’s lived with pain in her knee for years and it got to the point where
she was advised to have knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Jacobsen said her knee was the worst case he had ever seen.
Well, the surgery went well and Sally was given a list of things
she was suppose to do on a daily basis to promote healing
so she could walk again and live a life that wasn’t compromised.
Sally had a friend named Joe.
Joe had the same surgery, several months prior to Sally.
He was given the same instructions.
Joe thought he could do it on his own and didn’t listen to Dr. Jacobsen.
He heard Dr. Jacobsen but when he began to do the exercises,
it just got too painful for him…so he quit.
Even though he was told he would never be able to walk again,
Joe was unable to push himself forward and face the challenge
of experiencing the victory that comes with pushing through.
Because Joe didn’t follow the doctor’s orders
Joe isn’t able to walk on his knee.
He’s reaping the “rewards” of what he has sown
and is having to take a good hard look
at where his actions got him.
He’s unable to walk, still has pain and is quite discouraged.
So now, Joe is facing an additional 9 months of intensive therapy
that is hopefully going to bring him to a place of full recovery.
There are no guarantees since he didn’t follow through
with the doctor’s original plan.
Sally personally knows Joe and didn’t want to walk down the same road.
She’s going to listen to the experts and follow their lead.
It’s an easier road (in the end) with promises of a
restored and fulfilling lifestyle.
But Sally knows full well there are going to be challenges….
there are going to be days where she doesn’t feel like doing her exercises….
she’s going to experience some pretty intense pain…..
and that’s when she’s going to have to LISTEN.
Listen to her coach and therapist who are reminding her of her dream and desire to walk again.
Listen to her doctor because he’s the mastermind behind the plan.
And last but not least, she’s going to need to listen to her heart…..
because DEEP down she KNOWS she WANTS FULL recovery!
It’s been several months now and Sally is walking without pain,
without a cane and on a fully restored knee.
What’s the difference between Sally and Joe?
Joe started out with an attitude of, “I’ll TRY and see what happens.”
Sally saw with her own eyes what that attitude did for Joe.
She took the reigns and said, “I WILL walk again!”
What about you?
Are you playing a game with network marketing?
Are you just “TRYING” like Joe?
Take the reigns and proclaim
“I WILL Succeed” no matter how challenging it might be,
no matter how afraid you might be
and no matter how much it might hurt when you fall down.
Be like Sally and listen to the experts.
We will ALL reap what we sow.
Have You Disqualified Yourself to Receive the Prize?
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” 1 Cor. 10: 24-27
Application is key and while I do realize that not everyone reading this blog is necessarily going to embrace the Bible, I do want to share this message because I believe this applies to each and every one of us as human beings, regardless of our world view or life philosophy.
The pastor that delivered this message was invigorating and while he wasn’t necessarily speaking about network marketing, I am always looking for ways of sharing a message with you, my readers, that will inspire all of you to continue moving forward and run the race with determination and the kind of dedication it takes to win.
You see, those who are running this race must first have the desire to win. But desire isn’t going to carry you to the finish line. It takes discipline on your part to take action and do the activities that are necessary on a daily basis to push you forward. Sometimes you will be stretched as a person and as a leader. At times you may be challenged and there will be times when you might be emotionally afraid as you exercise your way to reaching the finish line. In fact, there will even be times when you feel exhausted and frustrated, but you must continue moving forward if you intend to claim victory.
You must have the desire to win the race and the discipline to carry that desire through to the end. You must also have a determined spirit to press forward to the finish line. It’s that determination that will give you laser focus. While life happens, you will be able to see the bigger picture and press on in the midst of everything that is happening around you because you know where you are going and are taking action to reach your ultimate goal. You will be like the race horse with blinders on, completely un-distracted. You won’t make excuses as you keep your eyes on the prize.
There is also the aspect of self denial. Have you ever stopped to take a look at yyour leaders? Those who are running the race understand that there are going to be days when they don’t “feel” like working, yet they continue to move forward. There is without certainly an element of sacrifice that comes with reaching your goals and sometimes that means denying yourself, keeping your head down and taking the action that is necessary to reach the finish line.
On a side note, I also want to challenge you to the realization that this really isn’t about you. This is about helping others who are running with you and while I realize an athlete isn’t necessarily going to take an interest in helping others win, this certainly applies in network marketing. This simple act demonstrates the character and without the character quality of putting others before yourself, you simply won’t win. Every great leader who is laser focused on claiming victory will freely give to those who want to run alongside them.
While there is only one ‘winner’ in a competition, there will be many winners in this industry. However, it isn’t going to be easy and the victory is certainly reserved for those who have the desire, exercise discipline, have the determination and have learned to deny themselves in order to help others along the way. But above all, it is your character as a leader that will allow you to shine and cross the finish line.
Career Choice Got You Down? Every Day is a Brand New Day!
My husband and I have been managing an oceanfront resort in Washington State since 1996. Having left corporate America, we have been fortunate enough to have been able to raise our children in the midst of managing the property. We’ve enjoyed our many experiences over the years, many of which have taught us some very valuable lessons.
One of these lessons was recently brought to my attention when my husband and I were able to find some time alone. He recalled a time when he had a conversation with one of our guests while working on the grounds. It was nearing the end of his workday, the sun was setting and he was tired but stopped momentarily to exchange a few words.
When our guests find out that we’ve been managing the property as a family, they typically express how great it would be to work at a resort. My husband explained to this gentleman how hard it can be to find help during the busy summer season and how taxing that can be on our family and personal life. After his little rant, the man looked at my husband in the eyes and said, “You’ve chosen to be here.”
That message still rings in my husband’s ears to this day. He’ll never forget those words and when he brought the story up to me again, it brought new meaning to my journey.
You see, we all make choices in our lifetime and many of those choices will effect us in our future, both positively and negatively. The great thing about the sun rising is that when we wake in the morning, we have a brand new day filled with brand new choices to make.
In essence, we are the author of our own story. We are the ones who make the choices to bring ourselves in the situations we find ourselves in today and we are the very ones who can make the choices that will get us out of our circumstances if they are unfavorable. It may not be as easy to back out as it was to drive in, but where there is a will there is a way.
In this case, I’m specifically referring to employment. I realize that there are situations that we all find ourselves in and we may wonder how in the world we got there and I’m not putting the blame on anyone in those particular situations. However, when we consider our employment and career choices, I believe we have a choice to stay where we are at or move in a completely different direction. Will it be an easy transition? Not likely. But well worth the decision if you are miserable in your current position.
I always start with this one question: “What do you love doing so much that you would be willing to do it every day without getting paid?” Ultimately, this is the center of who you are and your passion in life. If you can wrap your mind around doing something that you love and actually finding a creative way to make money doing it, you’ll never have to work another day in your life. Every day would be a pleasure because you would be living out your calling and your purpose.
So if you find yourself in a career that is far less than desirable and you are looking for a way to get out, just remember that change begins with you. Today is a brand new day!
What Must Every Person Know About Character?
I enjoy reading and thought I would share a little excerpt out of a book
I’m reading by John C. Maxwell. The book is called, ‘The 21 Indispensable
Qualities of a Leader’ and if you don’t already have this book……get it!
What Must Every Person Know About Character?
1. Character Is More Important than Talk
Anyone can say that he has integrity, but action is the real indicator of character. Your character determines who you are. Who you are determines what you see. What you see determines what you do. That’s why you can never separate a leader’s character from his actions. If a leader’s actions and intentions are continually working against each other, then look to his character to find out why.
2. Talent Is a Gift, but Character Is a Choice
We have no control over a lot of things in life. We don’t get to choose our parents. We don’t select the location or circumstances of our birth and upbringing. We don’t get to pick our talents or IQ. But we do choose our character. In fact, we create it every time we make choices – to cop out or dig out of a hard situation, to bend the truth or stand under the weight of it, to take the easy money or pay the price. As you live your life and make choices today, you are continuing to create your character.
3. Character Brings Lasting Success with People
True leadership always involves other people. (As the leadership proverbs says, if you think you’re leading and no one is following you, then you’re only taking a walk.) Followers do not trust leaders whose character they know to be flawed, and they will not continue following them.
4. Leaders Cannot Rise Above the Limitations of Their Character
Have you ever seen highly talented people suddenly fall apart when they achieved a certain level of success? The key to that phenomenon is character. Steven Berglas, a psychologist as Harvard Medical School and author of ‘The Success Syndrome’, says that people who achieve great heights but lack the bedrock character to sustain them through the stress are headed for disaster. He believes they are destined for one or more of the four A’s: arrogance, painful feelings of aloneness, destructive adventure-seeking, or adultery. Each is a terrible price to pay for weak character.

Successful vs. UNsuccessful
I read through some very enlightening information that I thought I would pass along to you
in my own words.
Not only was this enlightening but it was also very encouraging for me because I was able to
see clearly how my mindset has brought me to where I am at today.
This info deals directly with the thinking of an unsuccessful person verses the thinking of a
successful person. There is no doubt in my mind that the unsuccessful person has to change
their mindset before they will ever move forward and achieve their dreams. Their dreams
will remain a mere dream until they enter into a different way of thinking.
The UNsuccessful person will look at an opportunity or investment and think to themselves, “How much money do I have to spend?” However……
The SUCCESSful person will look at an opportunity or investment and think to themselves, “How much money will I make in return for my investment and my time?”
The UNSuccessful person will think, “How do I make an instant $1,000? I need money now!” But…..
The SUCCESSful person will think, “How can I turn this $20 into $100 monthly, then $250, then $500, then $1,000 and $10,000?
A person walks up to an UNsuccessful person and says with excitement, “Hey! I know how you can make an extra $100 a month!” The UNSuccessful person say, “Whatever, it’s only $100 bucks. I need to make more money than that.” While….
When a person approaches a SUCCESSful person and says, “Check this out! I can show you how to make an extra $100 bucks a month!” The SUCCESSful person says, “Cool! Can you show me how I can turn that into an extra $1,000?”
If you told an UNsuccessful person that they could take just $200 a month and turn it into $10,000 a month within 1 year if they worked hard and they were coachable, their response would be … “Within a year? I don’t have that much time to waste! Who knows what’s going to happen within a year?” However…..
The SUCCESSful person would say, “A year? That’s it? Let’s get started! How much would I make in 2 years?”
The UNSuccessful person will see an item on sale that they don’t really need and even though they don’t have the money to purchase that item, they will just put in on credit and pay for it later. But….
The SUCCESSful person will save their money and pay cash for it.
The UNSuccessful person will join an MLM that doesn’t have a monthly autoship or service cost and hope that a truckload of people will be placed under them. But….
The SUCCESSful person will join an MLM, come in with the largest start up package and pay the monthly autoship. They’ll work hard and not expect anyone else to build their business for them.
In order for a person to be successful, they have to think correctly. It’s our thinking that drives our behavior and our behavior that takes us where we are going to go.
The unsuccessful person wants everything today and isn’t willing to work for it,
invest in it or believe in themselves enough to move forward. The successful person
understands that nothing happens overnight and they are willing to put down the money
and invest their time to get what they want for their future.
Both people want it now, however, the successful person knows it’s unrealistic
and demonstrates the patience, dedication and determination that is necessary for success.
WARNING: This May Offend People in MLM
I read something on Better Networker today that got me
thinking again and I wanted to share it with you.
The guy was basically saying that he has to laugh when
people ask him how much it’s going to cost them to
join him in his business.
I don’t have this happen as much as I did when I first started
but on occasion, I do have the occasional question.
It a nutshell, that question just reveals their mindset
and lets me know how I can direct them to help them.
People need to get their head on straight and think beyond
the money being spent each month to own their own business.
$100.00? $200.00? $300.00?
What’s the difference if you believe in yourself and know
you can push your business forward to create the lifestyle you desire?
In my opinion, ‘trust’ is a smoke screen for someone to hide behind
because they just don’t believe they have what it takes to move beyond
the monthly expenses that come with any business.
Don’t Just Dream….Dream BIG!
